June Review

June was a busy month for FCF; here are a few of the things we’ve been up to…

Early on a beautiful sunny June the 15th, Andy and Harry set off to the capital to embark on an adventure in all things digital. This dynamic mix of Audit and Cloud Accounting were heading to the 2023 Digital Accountancy Show.

Arriving at Battersea Park in sweltering heat they spent the day roaming the 100’s of stalls learning about new (and some not so new) tools out there on the market to help our clients, regardless of size or industry. As well as gaining insight from the vendors to enable us as a firm to spot opportunities for our clients, there were over 40 talks throughout the day from industry leaders and innovators. A truly eye-opening day showing how many different platforms are out there to help in almost any situation. Should you want to discuss any of your systems or processes within your business just drop us an email and we will be in touch.

Elsewhere this month…

Our social committee arranged an evening of pizza and beer, followed by a T20 cricket match at Headingley Cricket Ground. The team enjoyed sitting in the sun together, while attempting to understand the rules of the game. Despite Yorkshire just missing out on the win, there was plenty of laughter and one of our own even had his moment on the big screen!

Joint managing partner, Lisa Calvert, was delighted to join the Reward Finance team at Bibis Royal Ascot Day. A touch of Italian glamour was brought to a quintessentially British event; despite having no wins on the day, the delicious food, fantastic company and raising money for the brilliant local charity “Physcap” made it a wonderful afternoon out.

Our downstairs neighbours, LCF Law, put on their annual charity quiz, raising funds for Bone Cancer Research Trust. Doing nothing to beat the accountant stereotype, our team had a clean sweep in the round of questions on Yorkshire Museums, as well as performing extremely well in the numbers-based sports round. Coming a respectable joint third, it was a great evening for a very worthy cause.

Audit and Advisory Manager, Andy Nichols, accompanied the Managing Partners to the West Yorkshire ICAEW annual dinner at Harvey Nichols’ fourth floor restaurant. A great opportunity to catch up with our peers, with great food, great drinks and a fantastic guest speaker in Clive Myrie.

Channelling their inner tropical vibes, our tax partner Nadine Crosby and audit manager Andy Nichols joined the Yorkshire business and restructuring community at the Club Tropicana themed summer BBQ in Leeds organised by the League of Ladies (est 2022). Usually a ladies only affair, the event was opened to male colleagues who came out in force in their Tropical shirts and luckily the forecast rain held off so everyone could enjoy the rooftop terrace.
